Latin Soccer Field; Courts and Corner Kicks

Now that the Latin Soccer Field court case is in full swing, I thought it would be great to open some dialogue on the subject. I posted the following on the Chicago Tribune's website and am awaiting some spirited responses...

Funny thing about law suits, somebody wins and someone loses. Great thing about open process and compromise, all parties can walk away from the table with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. This field is going to be built, now with the blessing of the court. If Latin is not the entity that finances the deal, it is another burden on the tax payer. Who has won and who has lost is certainly in the eye of those beholden.

Holy Name Mass Invasion

As a father of two who attend class at Holy Name Cathedral, I am incensed about the absolutely inappropriate war protest that attendees of Easter mass had to endure on Sunday, March 23rd. This incident goes beyond the boundaries of sane taste and now these young war protesters will most likely carry a felony arrest on their records for the rest of their lives. What would have happened had these protesters chosen another holiday and another venue for their protest, like maybe the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Do you think fair justice would have been handed out right then and there had these protesters chosen to squirt fake blood and lie down on Columbus the Saturday a week before Easter?

43rd Ward United - Let's Work Together

Welcome to the 43rd Ward United blog. This blog was created to start mending the relationships that have been damaged by an aldermanic race turned into a mud slinging fest. As you know, I am the 'show' candidate, as in the one who didn't win or place but came in third.

In the course of our team's run for 43rd Ward alderman that ended with 12% of the vote there were a few obvious revelations. Cash is king and campaign finance reform is desperately needed.

Vi Daley and Michele Smith are reaching some record levels of finance for an aldermanic campaign. The rumor, brought on by last night's forum at St. Paul's Church, is that Vi has accumulated approximately $600,000. It is also confirmed by the Board of Elections D2 requirement that Smith has received $100,000 from one women in Wilmette.

My thoughts are simple. With the money that went down the drain in this campaign of attack, my colleagues at the Make A Wish Foundation could have granted over 200 wishes for sick children. But those kind of accomplishments are ignored by main stream media, which only focuses on the negativity.

That's why I want to hear the opinions, thoughts and suggestions from the residents and voters of the 43rd Ward on what they would like the future to hold. We live in the greatest part of Chicago and together with civic action and responsibility we can continue that greatness.
